Finally! After much deliberation, I have decided the topic for my next video. It will be a short fictional narrative (currently untitled) about the dolphin slaughter in Taiji, Japan through the perspective of Angel, a female albino bottlenose dolphin who was captured in 2014 during a drive hunt and placed in captivity at the Taiji Whale Museum. The style of the film will be similar to Breaking Through The Clouds and Black Water. It will be released by the end of January (subject to change).
There are a couple goals I aim to achieve by making this film. First, I want to shed light on the suffering that these sentient creatures endure during the drive hunts and in captivity. It is interesting to think about what may be going through these animals' minds, given the established fact that they are emotionally complex and intelligent. Secondly, I hope to create an emotional connection to cetaceans so that people can better understand why these drive hunts and a life in captivity cause them immense harm. My hope is that, by achieving both of these goals, people will become more aware of the dolphin slaughter in Taiji and of the harm that captivity causes cetaceans. Additionally, I hope that they will become more inspired and empowered to take action and spread awareness regarding this issue.
Right now, the film is in the very early stages of creation. I am in the process of obtaining footage (if you own any or know anyone who does that is related to the topic, please reach out!), music, and writing the script. Once all of these things are completed, I will be looking for an actor to play the role of Angel. If you are interested, please let me know! Due to the complexity of this film, there is uncertainty for when it will be released. However, I am aiming to have it finished by the end of January.
